Student excursion
Weg (path)–as a bridge or a tunnel–and Dorf (village)– a house, a shelter– are the founding elements of Swiss constructive, economic, and political culture. We walk to shorten a distance, we stay to lengthen it. Seven bridges by Jürg Conzett punctuate the Flimser Wasserweg, functionally performing as a Weg and symbolically acting as a cornerstone to a Dorf. The students’ brief was to design spaces to experience time as if exploding a Dorf and isolating and spreading its activities along the Wasserweg. Devices to spend time, to expand the size, perception, and meaning of space.
